Geographic proximity and deep cultural ties have made the Persian Gulf states a natural destination for Iranian tobacco goods and accessories. Traditionally flavored hookah tobacco (double-apple, mint, barberry) has a steady following among the large Iranian and Arabic-speaking communities of Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, and Muscat.
A significant share of this trade is informal, moving through travelers and small-scale traders, but in recent years Iranian brands have pushed for a more formal presence in the UAE and Qatar, including through regional trade fairs. Handmade accessories — ceramic hookah heads, hand-painted glass bases — have carved out a niche in Dubai and Abu Dhabi boutiques thanks to their craftsmanship and distinctive design.
Still, Iranian exporters face real headwinds: banking sanctions, currency-transfer friction, and competition from established Egyptian and Turkish brands — factors that keep this market's growth slow but steady.
